Soap Making Recipe
All of us often wonder how the most common commodity used by us everday soap is manufactured. It was in the 19th century that commercial production of soap began with the discovery of basic chemicals that could be used in bulk to mass produce cakes of soap.
The whole concept of making soap is quite simple. All it takes is a mixture of caustic soda and any oil like coconut oil to produce a cake of soap. The actual process of course needs to be controlled and monitored to produce soap that is usable.
The basic concept in soap making is that caustic soda sodium hydroxide called “lye” reacts with both oils and fats to make soap. This is called saponification.
There are three basic methods of making soap. When made at home these cakes are rich in glycerin. Industrial processes remove the excess glycerin.
Cold Process Soap
This is the grandmother’s soap recipe. The art of soap making involves using the right proportion of basic ingredients lye sodium hydroxide and water with fatty acids. Approximate time for this is 6 weeks.
Cold process soap is normally hard and long lasting.
Melt and Pour Soap
The easiest and safest way to make soap at home is to buy melt and pour kits. As the name suggests the various ingredients need to be melted and mixed in the prescribed proportions. Various colors fragrances and other ingredients can be added as well.
Hot Process Soap Making
This is as simple as mixing all the ingredients and placing them in a container and then heated up to evaporate water and leave the soap solution behind. This cools off to become soap.

Selecting Opportunities In The Downturn
The world as a whole is suffering in varying degrees from the current economic downturn. Hundreds of thousands of people have found themselves without a job and there will be many more before the crisis has ended. While I cannot offer a panacea for what ails the economy I can give some tips and suggestions that may help those searching for alternatives.
Many will and have turned to the internet where there is an abundance of “opportunities” on offer to help alleviate any individual’s difficulties. It is imperative that even more care is taken when evaluating the programmes that are being offered. While we have a job the losses incurred in making a bad choice can be sustainable but in difficult times the last thing we need is the added burden of money and time lost in a venture that cannot succeed.
My mail box is filled daily with programmes and opportunities that are doomed to fail in the long term for most who participate. I believe that the majority of those promoting these businesses are truly convinced they represent the chance to rise above the economic conditions. Unfortunately for so many it is simply not true.
There will be an increasing number of people joining programmes and so an upsurge in the promotional efforts that arrive in our in boxes. Due diligence is and always will be important but in difficult times it becomes even more vital even if the initial outlay is relatively small. Most businesses require ongoing payments and of course take time to produce results. If the programme is one that is doomed to fail there could be the loss of several regular payments and perhaps even more importantly the time spent promoting it. Clearly it is best to get it right first time.
So what is the answer?
When you find a promising opportunity do not just accept what is claimed. Indeed even if there is “proof” provided still do extensive due diligence before parting with even a token payment.
It is beyond the scope of this article to provide a comprehensive lesson in due diligence but here are some tips that are often not considered in due diligence that are well worth following:
Cut through the hype! internet opportunities abound with hype and often exaggerated promises. Look for reality.
Be cautious of “proof”. Mostly proof offered is about what one individual achieved and we are not that individual. I have even heard of situations where the individual was given access to some list or was heavily mentored by their sponsor. How much real help is available to you and how successful is your helper already? How did they achieve whatever success they have had? Many if not most promoters will be using the company literature which is usually worded to suggest that they personally have achieved the promised results. All too often they personally have experienced little success yet.
Read the FAQ and terms and conditions especially looking for discrepancies and strange statements. A common situation is a promise of earnings prominently displayed on the web site and an income disclaimer buried in the terms and conditions. When you join you have agreed to the terms and conditions even if they have not been read which means you have agreed to the income disclaimer not the promise.
They may say they are legal and not a Ponzi but what else would you expect them to say? Remember “self praise is no recommendation”.
Look at the structure and operations in detail and check the xlong term sustainability. The bulk of the opportunities I see do not have long term durability and are doomed to fail for over 90 of those who join regardless of what they do or how good they are.
Go to your favourite search engine and use the business name complaints as the key words. You may be surprised at what you find. Do the same for the original promoters if you can find that information.
Apply some business basic thinking and assess the promised income paid out against the funds the business will receive. This too can give some unexpected results.
Of course do all of the “normal” due diligence. Trust me time spent first doing due diligence is far more valuable than months spent learning the hard way that the opportunity does not deliver as promised.
Finally! If in doubt stay out!

RSS Reader – The Element That Puts The Cash In Cash Cow
In my humble opinion the single biggest problem with the Internet today is the sheer volume of all the great information available. It can be quite difficult to find the precise knowledge that you’re looking for. Talk about the proverbial needle in a haystack. Whoa! Excessive stimulus is a real issue. You wanted to read some opinions from music buffs about a particular genre of music and every other blog article dealt with new punk clothing fads and which bands have the most outrageous hairdos. How can we find only the content we’re looking for without getting mired in extraneous information that eats up both time and patience?
The answer is in context. There is now a way to filter through the dissonance of gibberish and intelligence to find precisely what you’re looking for. Instead of having to join clubs and organizations and receive their newsletters via email at their convenience you can now have control over what you accept. Having to search through millions of blogs to find the few you like has now become an outmoded task. The new system is called an RSS Reader: Rich site summary’ or really simple syndication’ are the common definitions of this software. The process begins by signing up to receive automatic updates from blogs and other Web sites that distribute summaries of their latest postings to your reader. You then find which ones you like and eliminate the rest. You can keep adding new sites until you have literally hundreds of informative connections in your areas of precise interest.
Another great characteristic of the RSS Reader program is the fact that you can put in key words of interest and the computer will surf the Web for you and add new blogs and web sites to your list rating them according to the terms you have selected. You then scan over these and add the ones you feel are pertinent deleting the duds. Ultimately you will have an emailstyle formatted file where you can search through all your favorite writers news and topics’ latest information. Then you also have capabilities such as comment’ so you can automatically share your contribution with your fellow humans. Or you can reply to the messages’ and actually communicate with the creators of the ideas.
This will really help to distribute the information sharing processes of the current topdown mass communication systems like the media. We can obtain numerous opinions on an issue and give our own views instead of being told one story that is heavily influenced by the company’s biased perspective of the situation.
So you can see this has the potential to be something quite huge. Less time wasted finding all the information you’re looking for and sharing your opinion and meeting others similar to yourself has never been so easy. The RSS Reader is ripping away all the useless wrapping paper revealing the true content of the gift of the Internet.
